Dean was raised on the 7th concession of Kincardine, home farm to Nelda's family where they were beef famers. After completing highschool, Dean decided to join the RCMP. Trained in Manitoba, and practiced for 11 years in Vancouver. Dean and Diane met in 1962, and were married in 1963. Loving the land and wanting to return to farming, Dean, Diane and Kevin moved to Ontario in 1971. Purchasing a farm close to Dean's parents, started dairy farming. Being involved with the holstein industry Dean was president of United Breeders in Guelph around 1996. Achieved Master Breeder herd in 1999. Dean worked on the farm with his son Kevin, and was active until his sudden death.
A private funeral service will be held at the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home, Ripley with interment to follow in Ripley Cemetery.
