Mary Worthington (Nee Kennedy)
February 22, 2023

Tom Brooks and Family - 2023-03-08 19:25:35

My deepest condolences to the family for the loss of Mary.  My Mother was her cousin, and I have fond remembrances of Mary from childhood visits to Kincardine.  My spouse and daughter were also able visit with her in 2018, where she was a most gracious host.

We are expecting a grandson in April.  He will share one of the Kirktown ladies as a great-great grandmother.

Richard - Denise let me know that your Mom passed away last week. What a wonderful, long life she had. I remember those great years, spending summers at the cottage and how much your family was intertwined with ours. I always found your Mom to be a great calming force. You were lucky to have her for so long.
Please accept my condolences.

To the family of Mary Worthington,

I feel your pain in the loss of a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

To know Mary was to love her.

During the years of working on the book about Glammis Mary became like the Grandma I never had.

Her strong faith was always present.

When I get these scam calls I say to myself I'd like you to try that on Mary Worthington!

She was small in stature but big in heart.

I hope to join you at Purdy's in the spring.

Was sorry to read of Mrs. Worthington's passing.  It brought to mind spending time at my dad's (Burns Hall) cottage that shared a laneway with the Worthington cottage.  May God comfort you in the days to come knowing she believed in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We were so sad to hear of our dear aunt Mary's passing.         We have many fond memories and many stories we could tell.

The cottage was and still is a favourite place to visit. She taught us to make chock-cherry jam, she showed us all the lovely wild flowers in the area, and she encouraged and helped us research the Kennedy family tree.

Because of the interest she instilled in us in the Kennedy family history, we made a trip to Scotland and the Island of Tiree from where the first Kennedy came to Canada in the mid 1800s.

Aunt Mary, we will miss your smile and wit and of course having an ice-cream. Love Dave and Vera

Richard,

I have many fond memories of your mother starting from my first, which was seeing her through the back screen door on Park St. giving you some discipline, continuing with weeks at your cottage (before ours was built), birthdays together and other special occasions through the years. Through all the good times and the not so good you have been a faithful and loving son and I know you will miss her. You and Sharon and all your family will be in Sandra and my prayers as you grieve her loss.

With our love, Andrew and Sandra

My codolences to all the family and friends of Mary.

I met Mary when I visited my friend Brian Thornton at the cottage in 1970's. She was always full of laughter and always had something to say to keep us young lads on the straiight and narrow.

She will be dearly missed.

So very sorry to hear of Mary's passing.  We always enjoyed our visits with her in the summers at the cottage and at the South Sauble Community Church's Anniversary celebrations.  It was always fun reminiscing about our family get togethers through the many years.  We will miss Mary's warm smile, her positive spirit and her encouraging words whenever we had the pleasure to be with her.  Our thoughts and prayers for the family.  Love from John and Val.

We first met Mary in 2010 through her Glammis connections. I will always remember the first visit I had with her at her apartment. She was surrounded by maps of various vintages, history texts and historical novels about Poland since she wanted to learn more about  a family member's heritage.  She was always quite a lady, so very gracious, inspirational and fascinating in her interests, an absolute joy.  She will be greatly missed.

Richard and Family,

It was an honour presenting Mary with her 40-year Horticultural Service pin in November.  Mary was a cherished Life Member of Ripley DHS and she remained interested in our Activities-rarely missed our annual Flower Show!  Share the stories, photographs, a few tears, many good laughs to give you and your family  strength and comfort today and every day.  Mary was indeed a gem!
