Donald Robert Reid, of Huron Township, passed away peacefully, with his family gathered around him on October 31, 2021 at Huron Shores Hospice, Tiverton at age 81. He was born in Wingham on March 29, 1940 to the late Nellie and Robert Reid. Beloved Husband of 61 years to Marilyn Reid (nee MacTavish). Loving father of Brian (Jo) Reid, Sandra (Ed) Husk and Larry (Kim) Reid. Grandfather of Nikki, Bradley, Gregory, Michael, Brianna, Ryan, Zachary and Tanner. Great Grandfather to Addison, Lucas, Andrew, Allison and Lucina. Also missed by sibling Wilda Parker of Dorchester.Don grew up on a farm outside of Lucknow, and continued to farm when he married Marilyn (nee MacTavish) in 1960. Don and Marilyn purchased a farm in Purple Grove (Huron Township) in 1966, and continued Dairy farming until 2009, when he retired from milking cows. He was still very active in the day to day farm operations after selling the cows. Don was active on the board of directors, and Presidency for the Lucknow District Co-op, Pine River Cheese, and the Ripley Agricultural Society. He was also clerk of session for the Kinlough Presbyterian Church for many years. Don will be remembered for his kindness, witty sense of humor, his hard working hands, and his Faith in the Lord.
Visitation will be held from the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow on Thursday November 4, 2021 from 5-8 PM. Anyone wishing to attend the visitation may register below. A private service from the chapel will be held on Friday November 5, 2021 with interment to follow at Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.
