Place of Death

Huron Shores Hospice, Tiverton, ON

Obituary

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our Dad aka Poppy. Walter Turner died on July 27, 2021 in hospice in Tiverton, Ontario surrounded by his family. Walter married the love of his life Gwen in 1965. She has been saving a place in heaven for him since 2016. Walter was born Oct 26, 1945 to Hugh & Evelyn Turner. Walter is survived by their 3 kids who will miss him dearly: Connie (Kevin Jefferson), Cathy (Dave Butler) & Walter (Melanie Turner) and 5 grandchildren: Holly, Kody, Cathaleen, Matthew, Abigail plus 8 Great Grandchildren. Walter is known for a loud voice, amazing gardening skills, a nonstop helping hand that comes from his big heart and his love of cards. All siblings, nieces, nephews and many friends will miss playing euchre with dad and his “Turner Special”. We will have to trademark his popular euchre phrase “Alone Turner Special” all while staring at his partner-saying “if you have them all I’ll get one, if I get euchred say nothing”. Dads Celebration of Life will be held at a later date as he requested. It was his direction to not have a funeral service. Donations to the Huron Shores Hospice in Tiverton Park Manor in dads name would be welcomed.

Wayne and I would like to extend our sincere sympathy to Walter’s family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. He will be with Gwen now and they will have lots to catch up on!

Wayne had some great times with the Turner boys and lots of good memories.
