Katherine Anne MacDonald, of Kitchener, beloved daughter of the late Hazel (Mundell) and James C. MacDonald, passed away on Saturday July 17, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital Kitchener at the age of 76. She was born on November 3, 1944 in Kincardine. Survived by brothers Donald (Elma) MacDonald and Allan (Sandra) MacDonald all of Ripley. Also greatly missed by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Douglas. Katherine “Kathy” was a dedicated secretary for the Ontario Goverment (OFFRA office Guelph) for 36 years. Kind hearted and devoted Lady to the Family and Friend. Katherine added the “spark” to our and other social gatherings held. Kathy was on committees for the church and was involved with the Ontario Plowmen’s Association IPM 2012. She loved coming home for functions in Ripley ie Ripley Fall Fair and dinners. Her talent for Tole painting was admired at craft shows around Kitchener-Waterloo and Ripley. We will miss her greatly. A private funeral service will take place at the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home, Ripley with interment to follow at the Ripley Cemetery. Donations to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Kitchener (Camp Kummoniwannago, a youth camp), Ripley Lions Club or the Ripley Agricultural Society are greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Kathy was such a vibrant and caring person, always willing to give her time to whatever task was needed to be done at St. Andrew's. She was passionate about Camp K and our Christian Education department, and contributed to many other areas as well. Her input and guidance was appreciated and we shall miss her sense of humour.
My sincere condolences to Kathy's family. May your special memories of Kathy bring you peace.
We remember Katherine attending church services at Knox, Ripley with her Mother Hazel. Always a great visit with Katherine at Ripley Reunions and Ripley Fall Fairs! I do treasure my “plough point” tole painting of the Point Clark Lighthouse custom made just for me-I had admired her work at the R-Villa Christmas Bazaar! Katherine always took the time to visit and catch up with the Ripley-Huron news. Take good care! Don and Dianne Simpson
Dear family and friends of Kathy. I'm so sorry for your loss. Kathy was my next door neighbour on Brandon Avenue for 13 years. I was so blessed to have her as a neighbour. We looked out for each other. I always felt comforted knowing she was in her house next door while I was living alone for several years. It's so strange looking at her lovely house knowing she's not there anymore. I loved our chats in the driveway or over the fence in the backyard. She was always so positive and funny and just a truly lovely woman. She also loved chatting with my dogs - even Sookie who always barked at her LOL. I agree that she was hard working! Even after her illness I would see her out shoveling snow or pulling weeds. I would scold her and tell her to let me do that! But she just loved to work. I will miss her lovely smile and friendly wave and the comfort of having such a caring neighbour. My deepest sympathies to her friends and family. Jane and Alan and Sandra, who I have met, my deepest sympathies to you and your family.
I want to express my sympathy to all of Katherine's family. I went to school with her in Ripley and in Kitchener. We had lost touch over the years. Here is a funny memory - we were little farm girls in the big city and went to lunch at Goudie's Dept. store. We didn't eat out often as we weren't flush with cash for sure! So bottom line Katherine decided to have the fish dinner - probably the special that day. The fish came with the head on- first her neck got red up to her face and then I thought she was going to have a heart attack! As long as I live I will never forget that and I am sure she never ordered fish again without asking for NO head.
I was so sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. She was a lovely, fun, hard-working person, with a great sense of humour, and I so enjoyed all our chats, while working at St. Andrew's, or elsewhere. In future, I will look at her hand-painted Christmas ornaments on my tree and remember her fondly. I wish you comfort in your grieving and that you celebrate many treasured memories.
My sympathies to Kathy's family for your loss. I worked with Kathy for 10 years at the Waterloo OMAFRA office. As Office Manager she was very efficient and knowledgeable. Kathy would do anything to find the answers for the client's' questions. She was such a hard worker and had many interests. May your memories of her being you comfort.
So sorry to hear of Katherines passing .It was always great to see her at the Ripley Fair and to check out all her entries as well .She was always asking for the family and interested in what they were doing . Another good neighbour from the 6 th concession of Huron . Joan and Ken
We are so sorry for your deep loss. Kathy was a lovely kind hearted person and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Kathy was a dearly loved elder and a tireless worker for St. Andrew's, She was well respected for her many contributions to St. Andrew's
My sincere condolences to the whole family, as I know Kathy valued and fiercely loved you all. We worked together on the Camp K committee for many, many years, and shared lots of laughs, and lots of good hard work. Over the past couple years Kathy and I were brought closer together as we shared in each other's health journey. Lots of emails and phone calls, and encouragement for each other. I hold a very special place in my heart for her, and I'm so incredibly sad that she had to leave, I will miss her immensely.
Kathy will be missed by so many people who were touched by her heart and infectious laughter. I enjoyed many years working with Kathy on various Christian Education projects and events (teaching Sunday school, dressing up for Family Nights, painting classrooms, cooking for events, and many many CE meetings). Kathy had a servants heart and was always one of the first people to volunteer to help out - even if it meant getting messy, being silly, or jumping outside her comfort zone.
Sending love and prayers to all of her family and friends who are grieving her loss.
Our deepest sympathy on the passing of your beloved sister and friend. Treasure the memories you have shared through the years. Sincerely, Joan and Wayne Hartwick
I worked closely with Kathy at the ministry for a short time and Kathy’s kindness and humor really made a lasting impression on me. She was a wonderful, good-natured person who was well-respected by everyone she worked with. My thoughts are with her loved ones at this time.
