Obituary

Barbara Nickel of Kincardine passed away June 29, 2020 at the Kincardine Hospital at the age of 71. Barbara was born in Wingham Ontario on April 14, 1949 to her late parents Emily (Thomson) and Richard McQuillin. She was the cherished mother of Shauna Nickel and Tyler Nickel both of Kincardine. Dear grandma of Austin, Nathan, Haven & Prestyn. Missed by her siblings Mary MacNay, and Donalda & Doug McLeod and in laws Donna McQuillin, and Isabelle McQuillin. Predeceased by brothers Gordon, Harvey, Harold & Kathy, John, Ron, Allan and brother in law Robert MacNay and sister Lynda McQuillin. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Barbara Esther Nickel was a very loving and devoted Mother and Grandmother. She loved Jesus and all of her family and friend's. Mom was a follower of Christ and had put all of her faith in our Lord and Savior. Mom's favorite scripture was Psalm 91 and Psalm 23 and she would meditate and take great comfort on God's living word. Knowing that Jesus was the truth, the way and the light. A loving woman devoted to sharing her love, her faith in Jesus and her testimony of God's love and amazing grace. She loved to share the Good News of the gospel with everyone. Her journey and reflection here on earth is a reminder and testimony to us all of God's love for us. Her journey and purpose here on earth has been fulfilled and completed through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Mom is in God's loving embrace. This is a reminder and testimony to all of us of God's love , amazing grace & hope in Him. When we feel alone during great trials, tribulations and suffering Jesus is with us and will carry us through. Like footprints in the sand. Footprints in the Sand One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only. This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord, “You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?” The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.” Mary Stevenson, 1936
