Mary Elizabeth Culbert (née Macpherson) of Ripley passed away peacefully after a short illness on May 30, 2020 at SBGHC - Kincardine in her 87th year. She was predeceased by Murray Culbert, her beloved husband of 63 years in September 2018, and her brother John of Vancouver. Loving mother of Helen Orr (Dale) of Kincardine, Paul (Ethel) of Woodbridge and Ian (Gilles) of Ottawa; cherished grandmother of Nolan, Brendan, and Matthew, Justin and Nadia; sister to Sandy Macpherson (Oshawa).
Born in Kincardine to Frank and Ella Macpherson, Mary was an unlikely candidate for a farmer’s wife in Huron Township. She took up the challenge and excelled at it. She loved to spend time in her flower and vegetable gardens, she was a fantastic cook and baker (her butter tarts were the best!) and only her immediate family knew just how funny she could be. She will be missed immensely.
A private funeral and internment ceremony has been held at the Ripley-Huron Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

We had the honour of having Mary as a neighbour for a short time on MacLeod Street.
We have known her for years, and we know her children will have wonderful memories of her food, her contributions to anywhere she could help, and the love of her family. Our condolences to Helen, Paul, Ian and families - our thoughts are with you.
I was so truly sorry to hear of Mary's passing. Your Mother possessed such a great sense of humour, and was always welcoming, and ready for a chat. She will be warmly remembered and greatly missed in the Ripley community. Please accept my heartfelt condolences upon your loss.
Our condolences on the passing of your mother. Best butter tarts and cookies as I recall, being the old neighbour growing up. I remember the dry humour your mother had. We were never sure if she was teasing us, or giving us the dickens when we were kids. Will miss her soft heart. Laurie
