On Friday, October 4, 2019, Bonnie Jean Ackert (nee Fisher) passed away peacefully at the age of 74.
Bonnie, the wife of Ernest Ackert for 53 years, mother to Jeff & Tracy Ackert of Port Elgin, Becky & Jairus Maus of Paisley, and Mary & David Moss of Waterloo. Much loved Grandmother of Jacob & Joey Ackert, Lauren, Emily & Cameron Maus, and Hudson & Anderson Moss.
Bonnie will also be missed by her mother, Isabel Fisher of Palmerston, her sister Nancy & Dr. Rae Fischer of Listowel, her sister-in-law June Shouldice of Shallow Lake and her nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was predeceased by her father Bert Fisher of Atwood, her in-laws Raynard & Hilda Ackert and Caroline Ackert, and her brother-in-law Rob Shouldice.
A graduate of Stratford School of Nursing in 1966, Bonnie grew up in Atwood. After being introduced to a handsome farmer from Holyrood, Bonnie and Ernest began their married life at Hilray Farms. They were blessed with three children and enjoyed farm life until a change of scenery in the late '80s to Port Elgin. Bonnie was always a gracious support to Ernest and his business endeavors. Retirement years were enjoyed thoroughly on the beach...between south Florida and at home in Lurgan Beach.
Bonnie's life was long and happy. She experienced great love, adventure, and the joy of family and friends. The final chapter in Bonnie's story involved the challenges of Alzheimer's Disease. With the support of her family, the Alzheimer's Society, and the incredible compassion of her caregivers at Highview Residences Dementia Home in Kitchener, Bonnie was able to end her time on earth the way that she lived it - with dignity and grace.
There will be a Visitation for Bonnie at Pine River United Church on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from 2pm - 4pm, and 7pm-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 11 am at Pine River United Church. Internment in Greenhill Cemetery. Donations to the Pine River United Church, or the Grey-Bruce Alzheimer’s Society are appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy. I know this is years after the fact as I inly learned of this today. There are a lot of good memories that my family and members of the Holyrood community shared with the Ackert family as they were a pivotal family to the community.

Thinking of you at this time. Bonnie was a wonderful customer of ours, at Offshore Bakery, for many years. We will remember her as the wonderful kind person that she always was!
So sorry to hear of Bonnie's passing. She was a beautiful person and a wonderful lady and I know all her family and friends will miss her terribly. You all have my sympathy.
I just learned of Bonnie's passing and wish you all peace as you navigate the road ahead without her. I was reminiscing with my siblings about all the good times we had at the Holyrood farm and the generosity that was shown to us all. The most common memory was that of hot summer evenings that often included a dip in the pool followed by ice cream then always home before dark. I'm sorry she has passed but this has opened up a wealth of memories for me and I am grateful for that.

We are grateful to God for the joy of spending fun filled moments in her company and look forward to seeing her once again in eternity.
