Elmer Smeltzer, of RR#1 Ripley, passed away at Kincardine Hospital on Wednesday May 10, 2017 at the age of 81. He was born in Kincardine Township on August 16, 1935 to the late Elva (Hooey) and Arthur Smeltzer.
Beloved Husband of Marianne Smeltzer (West).Dear father of Dan (Darlene) Smeltzer of RR#1 Ripley, Jean Anne Smeltzer of London and Liz (Fred) Durnin of Kingsbridge. Greatly missed by grandchildren Jennelle, Kurtis, Kyle, Emma, Maggie and Sarah. Also survived by sisters Mary (Jim) Mills of Muskoka, Iva Smeltzer (Peter Kiourelis) of Mississauga and Arla (John) Dahmer of Ripley, brother-in-law Jim (Hope) West of Ashfield and sister-in-law Sharon MacDougall of Goderich. Visitation will be held from the Pine River United Church on Saturday May 13, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Funeral Service will be conducted from the church on Sunday May 14, 2017 at 2 PM.

We were saddened to hear of Elmer's passing. We always looked foward to hearing his cheery voice on the phone. Allan enjoyed keeping in touch with him about what was going on in Ontario. Sincerest condolences to Elmer's family.
Our sympathy to the family and please accept our condolences. Besides being a related, I have known Elmer from elementary school and usually saw him at the Ripley reunions. It was always a pleasure to talk to him about old times and memories.
To Elmer's Family my sincerest condolence We are out of town and not able to attend but out thoughts are with you. Elmer always was a pleasure to visit with when he would come into the office at Amberley to find out or let us know what was going on out there he will truly be missed!

Very saddened to hear the news today. I missed Elmer last summer at the ruinion and I imagine it is the only one he missed since he began coming. He will be fondly remembered by everyone. My condolences to Marianne, Liz, Dan and Jean Anne.
We were sorry to hear about Elmer's passing. He certainly gave it a fight. We have enjoyed many conversations over the years at the MacDonald reunion. We will be thinking of you with love and caring.
We are away in Michigan for the week end or we would be up. We will be listening for the bag pipes as Elmer is laid to rest.
