Helen Smith of Fergus passed away peacefully at Caressant Care, Fergus on April 26, 2014 at the age of 93. Loved wife of the late Lyle Smith. Helen was born in Purple Grove on September 12, 1920 to the late Ellen (Kirk) and Richard Stanley. She was the dear mother of Rosalyn Sutherland of RR2, Elora,and step-mother to Margaret (Ron) Leatherland of Mount Bridges, and Sherry (Tim) Watkin of London. Mother-in-law of Laird Norris and Bill Sutherland. Missed by her grandchildren William (Lisa), Ryan (Kim) and Stephanie, 4 great-grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-grandchildren. Survived by her 2 sister-in-laws Pat, and Lorraine Stanley and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers Glen, Russell, Norval, and Lawrence Stanley, sister Audrey Traher, and her twin Edith Pedersen and by her step-daughters Shirley and Donna.

Sorry to read about your mom's passing. She was such a kind, caring person who always had a big smile whenever we met. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
I remember Helen's warm smile and will always appreciate how good she was to the Boyle family while Dad was in University Hospital in London. Mom stayed in her apartment for a couple of weeks and Bonnie and I dropped in and were treated like royalty and treated to wonderful home cooking.
