My sincere condolances for your loss I worked with Geoges many years ago from 1973 to 1989 before I left Canada to move to Europe . Behind the rough & tough image that he tried to keep(& never really succeeded) he was truly a great guy. I adored his dry sense of humor , his wit , his laugh & the fact that he truly represented the values of the company ?I always had a trmendous amount of respect for him. I will always remember how proud he was when he left the office with his bright red convertible He was a good man Phil & Suzanne Parisien
Zita and Nancy,
My sincere condolence on your loss. George had such a significant impact on so many people over the years. He left his mark as a great mentor and many of us owe our success to the guidance he gave us early in our careers. He will be truly missed.
Zita and Nancy: I am very sorry to hear of Geoge's passing. George was my supervisor very early on in my career at John Deere. He taught me many lessons and told stories that to this day I still reflect on. George really cared for "his people" and if you worked for George you truly knew that he cared for you and he wanted you to be successful. His style was straight forward and to the point but always with a mix of great humor and sarcasim. George was truly a larger than life personality and he will not be forgotten by all of those that he has touched.
Dear Zita and Nancy, Please accept our heartfelt condolences for the untimely passing of George. When I look back on my career with the company I reflect with gratitude on my relationship with George. He was a boss who mentored, instilling integrity, honesty, genuineness, and respect for others. His lessons were always sprinkled with a smattering of sarcasm and humour. "I didn't always get the humour, but eventually I got the lesson"!!!
After George retired, I appreciated the calls and luncheon dates when he would land in Edmonton, on route to Red Deer to visit Nancy. He always spoke about her with the utmost pride and esteem. His beloved daughter, was the ‘apple of his eye’ and a wonderful testament to solid parenting.
George was a ‘meat and potatoes’ kind of guy with no hint of pretension. I will always remember his straightforward and honest approach.
George will be sadly missed and always in our hearts.
Nancy,
My thoughts are with you and your mom at this difficult time. I am sure you are grateful for the time you spent with your dad in April when you went to Scotland and England, and also a few years ago in Ireland. Your dad will live on in all those precious memories. It must be a great comfort for your mom to have you there. The entire Beck family is thinking of you both. Take care of yourself,
Sandra
Dear Zita, Nancy and the rest of George's family,
I was so deeply saddened by the news I received from an old Deere colleague about George's passing.
My deepest condolences goes out to all of you. The world has truly lost a very special individual.
As a fresh graduate from university, I worked with Deere for only five years, yet when I think back about those early days, one of my first memories is of my boss George Hackett !
Although he had that tough hard exterior he always knew when ease on the reins.
I am very thankful to have known and worked for someone like George in my career.
I know that he affected me in a very positive manner as he has all those who have worked with or known him.
Sincerely,
Juris Terauds
I am very sorry for your loss. I worked for George very early in my career. He took pride in developing new employees and was a great mentor. I will always remember traveling with George and the extensive insights he would share along the road. You could always count on a teachable moment from George. While he took his work very seriously, he always had time to share a great story, which usually concluded with his infectious laughter. He will be missed, and always remembered. My thoughts are with you. Sincerely, Graham

Dear Zita and Nancy:
I would like to extend my most heartfelt condolences on George’s passing. George meant the world to many of us at John Deere who had the opportunity and privilege of working with him. He was one of the true legends of the Canadian Industrial Region, and one that touched and helped shape many of us as both employees, and more importantly as individuals.
Over the years, I spent many hours traveling with George. He was one of the most genuine individuals I have ever worked with, a great mentor and friend, and most of all a tremendous family man. Despite a tough and gruff exterior, his love for his family and especially his pride for Nancy was very evident. I can say that working with George was one of the best experiences in my 23-year career. He prided himself on developing younger employees the right way, and instilling the values of integrity and “doing the right thing” in all of us.
While we did not see much of each other in the past several years since his retirement, my memories of him are very much engrained in my mind. He had several memorable sayings, a great sense of humor, and most importantly a big heart. He will be missed by all his Deere friends.
Sincerely,
Domenic Ruccolo
