I just learned of Bob's passing. He and my father, the late Sgt. H.M. (Mel) Douglas, were best buddies throughout World War II as members of the 19th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery. My wife Gail and I had the very great privilege of meeting Bob and his daughter several years ago in Lucknow and he filled us in on a lot of details we didn't know about that period of Dad's life. I carry on a tradition of Bob's by carrying the photos of my Dad and him in my wallet - Bob gave me photocopies of them that he carried in his own wallet. Gail and I are leading a Globus Tour to Juno Beach and Caen April 4-14 and we will drink a toast to the memory of Bob and my Dad.

I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He certainly led a long and happy life though. I always enjoyed seeing and visiting with him over the years, whether in Point Clark, Florida or Lucknow. Very sorry to hear about Bob. I always had interesting and enjoyable converstaions with Bob when we met and he always had good things to say. I enjoyed his great sense of humor and wittiness. His contributions to out area will live on for ever.
