I just learned of Bob's passing. He and my father, the late Sgt. H.M. (Mel) Douglas, were best buddies throughout World War II as members of the 19th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery. My wife Gail and I had the very great privilege of meeting Bob and his daughter several years ago in Lucknow and he filled us in on a lot of details we didn't know about that period of Dad's life. I carry on a tradition of Bob's by carrying the photos of my Dad and him in my wallet - Bob gave me photocopies of them that he carried in his own wallet. Gail and I are leading a Globus Tour to Juno Beach and Caen April 4-14 and we will drink a toast to the memory of Bob and my Dad.
Dear Joan, To you and your family
Please accept our deepist sympathy on the passing of your father. His was always a face of great warmth and kindness in the loss of our loved ones. A familiar face in a crowd of strangers. In memory of your Father "A great Thank-you" To his family "Deepest condolences, he was a great man" He will be missed.

He was there through the difficult times for so many of us - for my Dad`s funeral, and grandparents but also for all those very difficult times when we lost so many in our teens. i will always remember him fondly - his kind professionalism, and his ability to be just what was needed in the moment.xoxomarilyn

We were saddened to hear of Bob's passing. We will miss the short visits we had with him over the years around Remembrance Day and other Lucknow activities. Your family has shared a lot of good times with the Thompson family and many of the bad times. It was always a comfort to see Bob's familar face . Arnetta, who currently is in St. Mary's hospital, will be devastated to get this news.

I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He certainly led a long and happy life though. I always enjoyed seeing and visiting with him over the years, whether in Point Clark, Florida or Lucknow.
I suppose I have known him my entire life and he and my Grandpa - Jack were the best of friends, back in the day. I look forward to seeing his family at the funeral on Wed.
Best Regards,
Kara
