ALTON, Frank
August 30, 1934-April 18, 2026
Dear husband of Loreen Alton for 65 wonderful years. Frank was a well-loved member of the community and all who knew him, and was known for his sense of humour. He was a committed member of Trinity United all his life and lived his faith deeply through the many people he cared for. He was a man of integrity who countless people were blessed to view as a “second father” or “respected leader”. He was a farmer, school bus driver, machine shop worker, and mail deliveryman reflecting an uncanny ability to adapt to the evolving challenges of life. This care and resilience were no better demonstrated than by the way he supported his family through the loss of his two sons Kevin and Jamie. Frank rose to the trials and joys of raising three boys (two with hemophilia) with a liking to fast cars and youthful thrills.
Frank’s care for his family extended across generations as he dove deep into genealogical study of the Alton family tree which led to a large well-research family tree book and a huge Alton family reunion hosted by many in the Lucknow-Dungannon community where over 400 people came from across Canada and beyond. Frank loved games and sports. His house was filled with jigsaw puzzles and raucous rounds of cards. He was always showing up for people and community including the Lucknow Horticultural Society, Lucknow Agricultural Society, Lucknow Fall Fair, and Miss Lucknow Pageants.
His steadfastness and caring presence will always be cherished by his son Gord and Valerie Alton; his daughter in Law Michelle Alton and her mother Veronica Gordon; and his grandchildren Derek, David (Aashay Dalvi), and Emily (Brian Lococo). He is welcomed home by his two sons, his brother Arnold, and his parents Walter and Lillian.
Rememberings will be held Friday April 24, 2026 with visitation at 1 pm and service at 3 PM at MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home. There will be a reception after the service at the Lucknow Arena.

So sorry for your loss! We use to live across from the farm and spent many hours over there playing with Gordon, Kevin and Jamie, helped gather eggs in the barn, we always felt at home there. Frank was also my bus driver in high school , he was a fantastic driver. He will be missed, but cherish the memories.
Frank & Loreen were wonderful neighbours and we remember the family with great fondness. Frank always had a ready smile, a willing hand to lend, and welcomed our boys when they escaped our land and wandered into his orbit(apparently, they also gave pretty awesome treats at Halloween!)! A life well lived is never forgotten, and our thoughts are with Loreen, Gord& Valerie, Michelle and of course all the grands. Kevin and Jamie will be blessed to be with their father again. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all . Donny, Jennifer & family
Loreen and Gord please accept our condolences on Franks passing. Mom and Dad valued their friendship with you both. Hold tight to the memories and each other.
Our heartfelt sympathy to the Alton family in your time of loss. Frank was such a friendly and kind man who was happy to chat no matter where we met him. Thinking of you all as you celebrate his life.
It is with sadness that I learned of Franks passing. The Alton family has been very important in my life my friendship with both Jamie and Kevin had a deep impact. From the youthful shenanigans with Jamie, learning how to conduct business with Kevin they would always tell stories of how Frank and Loreen guided them. My girls know Kevin an Jamie from stories I tell Frank and Loreen built a wonderful family. To Gord Val and Loreen family my deepest sympathy on your loss, but the lasting memories we carry are a comfort. The faith that Frank had that I have grown into from the example set for me I know he has joined his past loved ones once again. I wish that I could find better words.
Love Renus
Loreen Gord Val and family. The Altons have had a large impact on my life, I am not sure I would be the man I am today without your presence. My girls often hear stories of Jamie and Kevin, who were guided by the calm loving influence of Frank and Loreen. Although I am very sad, I am also filled with joy of the memoires, they are a blessing.

My sincere condolences to you, Loreen, and all who had the good fortune of meeting Frank. I will be forever grateful for his caring help for my Uncle Russell. Loreen, you and Frank were made for each other and it was a joy to know you.
My sincere condolences to Loreen, Gord, Val, family, friends and the greater Lucknow community.
It was an honor and a privilege to know Frank and his family, all of whom have always lead by a quiet example of humble dignity and excellence. He was the epitome of an unsung hero and the best example of a husband and father I've ever known. Through the very worst of times, he miraculously managed to hang on to his sense of humor, buoying up those who were not made of as sturdy of stuff. Not to mention he was also an amazing Sodoku wizard.
Frank's joyous reunion with his equally inspirational sons, Jamie and Kevin and other family and friends is the only thing that make his loss bearable to those of us left behind.

Dearest Loreen and family;
My sincere condolences at this difficult time. I will always hold close to heart the many conversations Frank and I had when visiting for footcare. We would catch up on the days and past events and maybe let the “ boss” join in. Your strength and resilience especially over the last year proves how strong you were. May you rest in peace Frank.
My condolences to Franks family. I smile and will cherish the memories of Frank safely getting me to and from high school daily.
Thanks you Frank for being part of some pretty amazing reminiscing bus stories.
