She and her husband couldn’t buy ice cream one Sunday in town for their family so bought the Mayfair Restaurant which they owned for 24 years. They enjoyed their own bits of paradise at their summer home at the end of the12th of Ashfield and in Citrus Ridge Florida where she wintered until 2012. Gladys was an avid sports fan, having played professional baseball as a young person and was quite famous in town for her competitive attitude and advice on the sport. At the age of 60 she picked up a golf club and excelled at the game. She had a quick wit that brought laughter to many and her stories of local history were endless.
Her wish was to be cremated and laid with her husband. Following a private family committal service at Greenhill Cemetery, everyone is welcome to share stories and fellowship in the Lucknow Arena’s Paul Henderson Hall from 2-5 PM on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

To the Hamilton and Gibson Families,
We extend our sympathy to Gladys's family on her death. The mention of the Mayfair Resturant brings back recolections of Gladys and conversations of hockey and softball. Treasure the memories of your time with her.

Patti, Ken, Barb, Steve, Joan and family. My deepest condolences on the loss of your dear Mom, Mom in law, Grandma, Great Grandma. Hold close your wonderful memories together. I have many good memories of her during my upbringing in our close knit Lucknow community and our encounters since I ‘left the nest’’. A lot of my formative years were spent in the Mayfair, whether eating fries, trying to
learn the game of pool in the basement or just hanging out, while grooving to tunes on the juke box. RIP Gladys. Al now has his partner again for a good euchre game with Mom & Dad. ❤️

Patti our family would like to extend to you and your family our heartfelt condolences on the passing of your mother. She was a remarkable person. Cherish the memories.
To Patti, Ken, Barb, Steve, Joanie and families, we extend our sympathies on the passing of Gladys. She was a strong willed person and I will always be grateful to her and Al for turning their restaurant basement into a teen club hangout in the sixties. Many a weekend evening was spent there with friends whom we still keep in touch with today. Gladys knew her sports and could discuss knowledgeably with us. Her personality will be missed. Rest in peace HB.
