Obituary

Jane passed peacefully on June 11, 2025, at 80 years of age. Jane Isabel Emberlin (nee Finlayson), beloved wife of the late Paul Emberlin, formerly of Lucknow.  Daughter of the late Gordon and Dorothy Finlayson of Lochalsh. Beloved sister of Barbara Rogerson, Rod Finlayson (Jeanie), Alan Finlayson (Gerry Pitts), Carol Finlayson (John Balch), Ian Finlayson (Christina), Duncan Finlayson (Laura), and Ken Finlayson (Susan). Dear sister-in-law of Judith Finlayson, Roy Emberlin (Betty), Wendy Gardner (Ken), John Emberlin, Joy Jurjens (Lou), and Mary McGlynn (Rick).  Special aunt to many nieces, nephews, and grands.  Predeceased by her brother William Finlayson, and siblings-in law Doug Emberlin (Dorothy), Denny Emberlin (Marie), and Ruth Emberlin.

She had a wonderful and subtle sense of humour and was always a willing partner to play a card game with the youngsters. They loved her. Jane worked for many years at the Bank of Canada in Toronto. In her retirement she volunteered for several years at a seniors home and enjoyed painting, sewing, reading, and more.

A memorial service to honour Jane’s life will be held at the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home in Lucknow on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 12:00 noon, followed by interment at Lochalsh Cemetery and reception at Lucknow Legion Hall.  We wish to thank the many people who cared for Jane toward the end of her life. They all considered her a pleasant and grateful patient and she treated them with the dignity they deserved. Rest in peace, dear Jane.

“May the angels bring her safely home.”

Sending my condolences to all. Many memories of attending Ashfield Presbyterian Church Sunday School and Young People’s. When I stroll through the Lochalsh Cemetery it brings back wonderful memories of days gone by. And lots of familiar names. Now another one added to that list.
