Robert “Bob” Taylor of Ripley, beloved husband for 55 years of Peg Taylor, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday January 26, 2025 at the age of 77. He was born on September 10, 1947, son of the late John Robert Taylor and Mary Matilda Armstrong. Bob was the eldest of 6 children and grew up on the family farm just outside of Belgrave in North Huron township. He attended Wingham High School and was an avid football player.
Bob took over the family farm and later became a butcher and moved to Ripley in 1981. He married Margaret Anne Brisbin on Aug 9,1969 and they had 4 children. Family was very important to him. He was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a giant heart and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Bob was always an active leader, volunteering his time to support the community and assist those living in it. In Belgrave he was a member of the local Kinsmen Club, coached his boys in hockey, was active within the church and was also a member of the Community Men’s Choir. His community focus and volunteerism even expanded after coming to Ripley. He coached the Ripley Juveniles for over a decade, even leading them to a Silver Stick win. He ran for and was elected to town council, was on the WOAA board, the Wolves Executive and Ripley Minor Sports. Bob loved sports of any kind and he spent many years umpiring softball, as well as coaching ladies softball and Angie’s ringette team. He was at the arena watching hockey right up until the time of his stroke on Boxing Day.
Many also knew Bob for his barbecuing at weddings and parties and he also cooked wings at the snowmobile club. He worked as a butcher at Beefway, Knechtels and Sobeys before taking a semi-retirement and doing a mail route.
Dear father of Kevin (Nikki), Debbie, and Angela Taylor, all of Ripley. Greatly missed by grandsons Evan, Will, Colton and Weston. Also survived by siblings Marilyn (Nelson) Dusky of New Hamburg, Ron Taylor of Belgrave, Maryellen (Jim) Keller of Belgrave, Mark (Diane) Taylor of Mitchell and Trudy Taylor of Belgrave and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Steven.
A private funeral service will take place at the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home, Ripley with a public celebration of his life to be held at a future date. Spring interment Brandon-Belgrave Cemetery.

Bob became a true friend when we worked together at the post office. He took pride in his work and his customers. Bob was a man that stood up for what he truly believed .
He loved his family and his sports.
They just don’t make them like Bob.
We will miss you, Bob.
We admired you and always will. RIP Bob❤️

Many years have passed since Bob was employed by The Beef way. He was a great meat cutter and we had loads of fun.
