The family of Ross D. McDonagh sadly announces his passing on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Wingham & District Hospital. Born in Ashfield Township in 1937, Ross was the son of the late Norma & John A. (Jack) McDonagh. Ross was the middle child of five sons and was a caring, generous and colourful character who will be missed by many.
Ross married Corinne Chappell in Vancouver in 1964 and they moved to Toronto where he became a father to Michelle in 1967. Ross was a well respected executive in the automotive and then construction industry which later took him to the Ottawa area with Audrey Whiteside & her children Guy & Sue. As well, he enjoyed many great winters at Citrus Ridge in Florida. Ross returned to his Lucknow roots in 2016 and was a resident at Sepoy Manor.
Ross was predeceased by his parents Norma & Jack, and brothers Murray (Shirley), Chuck (Georgie) and Barry. Ross is survived by his loving daughter Michelle and his “favourite son-in-law” Ken Lim, and his two beloved grandsons Brendan (Jinelle) & Ryan Lim. Becoming a Great Papa to Makenna in 2022 & Jackson just last month made him so proud. Ross is also survived by his devoted brother Rod (Joanne) of Lucknow, as well as his dear sister-in-law Betty, and many relatives with whom he enjoyed time.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Sepoy Manor for their wonderful care, as well as Dr. Sean Henderson. A family graveside service will be held later this year. For those wishing, a donation in Ross’s memory to the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation (wdhfoundation.ca/donate) or the charity of your choice would be deeply appreciated. Rest in peace Hawkeye-you will be missed.

My thoughts are with the McDonagh family. Ross was one of my oldest, dearest friends. We spent a lot of time together over the past 75 years. He will be sorely missed.

Sad news. Having known Ross forever, as a family friend, neighbour here and in the Ottawa area, I mourn his passing. Always fondly remembered for his good humour and great stories.
We extend our sympathy to the McDonagh Family on his death. I have fond memories of Ross, and his friend Al Irwin, driving our Midget ball team around Huron County to our games.
My deepest Condolances on your Loss. I will miss him too! He was always good to talk to.
He stayed on top of thingd to the end. I will miss that raspy voice.
