Alberta Grace Munro (nee Wightman) passed away peacefully at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre on December 21, 2024 at the age of 84.
Beloved wife of Vaughn Munro for over 55 years. Fondly remembered by stepsons Michael, David, grand daughters Leila, Jena, their 7 children, many other family members and friends.
Alberta will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul with a quick wit and beautiful smile. She loved to help others and was able to do this through her efforts as a member of many organizations. Alberta was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Hospital Auxiliary for over 50 years, Pine River United Church and United Church Women.
Alberta was a very active Shriners lady. Vaughn and Alberta graciously opened their home to the Shriners after many parades and events. For 33 years they gathered together for backyard corn boils at their Lake Range homes.
Sewing, baking and making crafts were a passion for Alberta. These items would be donated and sold at fund raisers for organizations she was involved with.
For 17 years Vaughn and Alberta were partners and wholesale agents of the Toronto Star. Alberta ran the financial end of this very successful business.
Alberta had a true connection and love for cats and cats loved Alberta. She fed and helped hundreds of stray cats over the years, including Inky who lived to be 22. Her grand kitten Jax loves and misses her very much.
Being an avid sports fan, Alberta enjoyed watching many sporting events including baseball, hockey and tennis. There was always a game on when you visited their home.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Thomson and the Doctors and Nurses from SBGHC who provided excellent care during Alberta’s time there.
Following Alberta’s wishes, a private service will be held at the Pine River United Church with spring interment in Kincardine Cemetery.

Jeff and I share our sincere condolences with Vaughn and family. We are so sorry for your profound loss.
I was saddened to hear of Alberta's passing recently. Deepest condolences to Vaughn and all of her family from myself and my husband Jeff.
I remember Alberta as a warm, welcoming sorority sister who was always full of joy and love for those lucky enough to know her. Although we lost touch after moving away, she remained one of my favourite sorority sisters and someone I remember fondly.
May memories of the wonderful times you had with her be a comfort in the days to come.

Dear Vaughn,
Our sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of your beautiful Alberta. The void she has left on this earth will be immense.
When my parents retired from Toronto to Ripley in 1981 they knew they had arrived in “God’s Country”…however that first winter was quite isolating for them…until Vaughn and Alberta showed up on their doorstep from “up the Hill”!
Reflecting back to that time, Alberta Grace, as her name suggests, and as you can guess, unsurprisingly was forever noble and bright for them always showing such kindness.
Our family will be eternally grateful for the love she bestowed upon them, and will be remembered as one of the greatest blessings in their lives. THANKYOU Alberta, may you rest in peace.
With love,
Liz and Kim Gardiner

We enjoyed many of the same interests together and with a group of twelve other girls. In later years we always tried to get together to renew our friendship usually during the summer. How we all enjoyed catching up!
My thoughts are with Alberta's family at this sad time. What great memories they will have of happy times together.
Alberta was the type of lady that would do anything for you. We have know her and Vaughan for many years.
We have traveled several time with them. She will be missed greatly.

Part of life is that we all eventually leave this world to begin the non-corporeal chapter of our existence, but the ones we love are never really gone, so long as they live on in the hearts and minds of those they leave behind. ~m&m
What a wonderful lady, Alberta was. I don't think we met, but I wanted to extend my sincere condolences to her family through this difficult time. My mother, who passed away 6 years ago had many of her characteristics, I believe. She was a Farrell from Ripley, Ethel. God bless you and guide you through this season in your lives.
