Obituary

Valerie Morningstar, beloved wife of Malcolm MacLeod, of London, passed away at London University Hospital on Friday November 8, 2024 at the age of 72.  She was born in Strathroy on February 19, 1952, daughter of the late Albert and Velma Morningstar.  Missed by brothers Wayne Morningstar of Jarvis, Glen (Shirley) Morningstar of Port Elgin and Alvy Morningstar of Port Elgin.  Also survived by brother-in-law John MacLeod (Sandy), sisters-in-law Brenda Morrison (Ken), Bonnie MacLeod (Andy) and Catherine MacLeod (Shawn) and several nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by brothers Blain and Dennis Morningstar.

Valerie attended school in the area and at nineteen was chosen as Miss Southwestern Ontario and participated in the Miss Dominion of Canada Pageant in Niagara Falls. Valerie went on to become a flight attendant and was able to travel and meet many famous and infamous people as well.  She used to say “who would believe a little girl from Lucknow would see the Beatles live, dance with a Prime Minister and walk the Great Wall of China”.   She loved all of her pets but especially her Bull Terriers.  Beauty is obviously in the eye of the beholder.

A graveside funeral service for family and friends will be held at the South Kinloss Cemetery, Lucknow, on Friday November 15, 2024 at 2 PM followed by interment.  A come and go celebration of Valerie’s life will be held the following Friday (November 22, 2024) at 2 PM from the Lucknow Legion.

Together we were good friends growing up in our small town community of Lucknow Ontario, sharing good laughs, stories and sports in school. Although the years have come and gone, I have thought of you often with the kindness that you always possessed and a smile that warms up our world. May the Good Lord take you by the hand, carry you in his arms and smile at the great inspiration that you were to all of us. You will never be forgotten . . . you have made the world a better place for all of us . . . . Many Blessings, as always, Lynda Hyndman ( Dawson )
