James (Jim) Alexander Lavery
January 11, 1942 - September 25, 2024
Jim was born and raised in Vancouver, BC, the only child of the late James and Lois Lavery. He joined the RCMP and left for training at Depot Division in Regina in 1962. He served as a proud Member of the RCMP for 36 years, retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1998.
Jim married Mary Stroeder in Humboldt, Saskatchewan on July 4, 1964. With Jim's career, they were posted to a total of 8 different RCMP detachments within Saskatchewan. Upon retirement, they moved to Richmond, BC where they made many friends and had many fun times. In 2020 Jim and Mary made their final move to Ontario to be closer to family.
Jim and Mary had a long and happy retirement, filling their time with travelling the world, their favourite being cruising, and their yearly trek back to Saskatchewan with their 5th wheel to visit family and friends.
Jim's true passion was airplanes and flying. When he was a teenager, he joined the Air Cadets and obtained his pilot's license at the age of 17. He enjoyed many happy hours flying in his own Cessna 172, and many family and friends were lucky enough to enjoy a flight with him. Jim also enjoyed building and flying remote-controlled model airplanes. Another pastime was enjoying his Amateur HAM radios, where he made friends all over the world "shooting the skip".
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary, his son Brent and his wife Lynnette Lalkowski of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and their children Lexie and Evan, and his daughter Carole-Anne and her husband Mark Nagus of Kincardine, Ontario and their children Amy and Sarah.
He Is also survived by brother-in-law Richard Muench and sister-in-law Marjorie Stroeder, both of Saskatchewan.
Jim is predeceased by his parents James and Lois Lavery, his in-laws Lawrence and Clara Stroeder, as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Victor (Ellie) Stroeder, Edward (Ann) Stroeder, Sister Mary Magdalene Stroeder, Bernard (Mildred) Stroeder, Peter (Bernice) Stroeder, Imelda Mamer (Vincent), Mary Clare Kessinick (John), Joseph Stroeder, Sally Muench, and George Stroeder.
Services will be held at a later date, at the RCMP Chapel and Cemetery in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Dear Auntie Mary, Brent, Carole-Anne and families;
My heart goes out to all of you with the passing of Uncle Jim.
I will fondly remember him as someone who was a part of some of my fondest childhood memories, many of which were the summer-time visits with the camper in-tow during the summer breaks.
God’s Speed & Blessing of Peace to All.

I’m so sorry to hear of Uncle Jim’s passing. I see Merv and Helen Keeley almost weekly for coffee and let them know. They ask about you regularly. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
