Myrtle Elizabeth “Beth” Aitchison, beloved wife of the late Robert A. Aitchison, passed away at Huronlea Home for the Aged, Brussels, on Saturday April 27, 2024 at the age of 83. She was born on October 30, 1940 in Kenilworth, daughter of the late Adaleen (Rooney) and Kenneth Dowling. Dear Mother of Brad (Tracey) Aitchison of Lucknow and Barb (Todd) Struthers of Teeswater. Greatly missed by grandchildren Riley, Lacey (Mike), Lindsay (Ray), Landon, Amy and Ally and 5 great grandchildren. Also survived by brother Laverne (Marg) Dowling of Guelph and several nieces and nephews and fondly remembered by Mike Lewis. Predeceased by daughter Bev Lewis, granddaughter Laura Murray and grandson Nash Aitchison.
Beth was born in Kenilworth and raised in Rothsay. Her family then moved to Whitechurch where she met her husband, Bob. They were married in 1958 and lived on a dairy farm north of London until they purchased the family farm in St Helens in 1966. They farmed there until 1983 and continued to reside in St Helens until 1993 when they moved to Lucknow. Beth continued to work at the Lucknow grocery store until her retirement where she made lifelong friendships. She would never turn down an opportunity to play a game of cards with friends or family. She spent much of her free time behind the knitting needles creating her one of a kind afghans for many in the community. Beth and Bob spent their summers at Aintree Trailer park in Kincardine, where the friends they met became family.
Beth courageously fought her illness until the end and will be greatly missed by her family. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the kind and caring staff at Huronlea in Brussels for providing the utmost care to Beth during her time there.
Visitation will be held from the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow on Thursday May 2, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A memorial service from the chapel will be conducted on Friday May 3, 2024 at 11am with visitation also one hour prior. Interment Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.

Dear Stang, Barb, and Families, We are so very sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. Thinking of you all at this sad time. May your many memories of Mom ( and Dad) keep you going.
I was thinking about Beth just the other day, something she said to me one time at the grocery store and how it startled me then but has made me laugh every time I think of it now. She brought so much joy and laughter to everyone around her! For all Beth's family, I wish you comfort, love and laughter whenever you pause a moment to think of her. She was and will always be "one of a kind" .
Laverne Marg and family so very sorry to hear of your loss. Sending our deepest condolences and prayers for peace and comfort in the days and weeks ahead. Sincerely Al and Ruth

Brad, Tracey, Barb, Todd, Mike and your families-sending our deepest sympathy on the passing of Beth. She was always a valued and dedicated employee at the grocery store…and she knew everyone in town! I am the proud owner of one of her afghans. Fond memories of popping in on Beth and Bob on Ross Street and often interrupting a cribbage game in progress. Together they raised a beautiful family and passed on their strong work ethic to their children. Beth will be missed by many.
Our condolences to Beth's family. We have not seen her for many years but have fond memories of her visiting my Mom in Mount Forest. Thinking of you all at this time.

My deepest sympathies to all of Beth's family and friends. Beth was a wonderful person and always treated me like family. When my father passed and family moved away she always made sure I was ok and included in family holidays and get togethers. Beth and her family will never know how much that meant to me. Thank you Beth for making feel like part of your family, you will be greatly missed by so many people.
Lots of Love..................Janice
