Steven Robert MacNay passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 1st, 2023 at Huron Shores Hospice, Tiverton after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 66 years old.
Steve had a love for life that will not be forgotten. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending his days socializing with family and friends, fishing, hunting, and traveling the world. His happiest days were spent living his dream traveling in his motorhome to the East Coast, and Florida.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary A. MacNay and his mother Mary B. MacNay. He will be deeply missed by his children, Candice (Kyle) Wilson and Michael (Nicki) MacNay. Steve was a proud Papa of his three granddaughters: Evie, Poppy and Addi. Dear brother of Sharon MacNay and brother-in-law to Dianne (Brad) Rotteau, Al Matheson, Linda McQuillin, Tom (Pauline) Kempton, and Helen (Brian) VanOsch. Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his father Robert A. MacNay, father-in-law Bill Kempton, mother-in-law Janet Kempton, brother-in-law Rick McQuillin and sister-in-law Sandra Matheson.
Though Steve was taken from us too soon, we remember his quick witted humour and brilliant one-liners. He will be missed by many friends who were like family and the community in which he proudly called home.
Heartfelt thanks to the team of Doctors: Dr. Michael Ott, and Dr. Michael Sanatani of London Health Sciences Center, and Dr. Damian Gunaratne for the compassionate care. A special thank you to Katrina Kruller, Steve’s favourite nurse.
Steve’s come and go Celebration of Life will be held Sunday November 19th, at Ainsdale Golf Course, Kincardine from 2-5pm. Memories shared at 3 PM. Casual attire is fine, and if desired, donations to the Kincardine Hospital Foundation or Huron Shores Hospice in Steve’s memory are greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

My condolences to Mary and family on cousin Steven’s passing. Though we haven’t crossed paths in a while I remember Steve back in our teen years as I would spend summers at my Grandfather Jack’s farm and Great Grandma Bertie’s cabin at the lake. Very fond memories! May he rest in the peace of our collective memories of him!

Steve and I started school together 60 years ago and have been friends ever since. We had a lot if good times. You know you are friends when you can get blood all over his new car and he does not get mad. We had a big Nascar rivalry he loved calling me and asking why all the M&M's were spilled all over the track I knew my guy had crashed. When we went on our trips down east and out west he wanted us to take lots of pictures and send them to him because they were trips he wanted to do but could'nt . We even got him a get well picture signed by Jamie Davis from one of Steve's favourite shows. We said our good byes last fall before Coop and I went to Florida. When we got home the first place I went before unpacking was to see Steve. We spent nearly every day together when we got back from Florida this spring. Sorry Mary for introducing him to online auctions. We said good bye again 7 weeks ago but you hung on I think it was because of our Nascar trip to Martinsville. We said good bye again the week before you passed. We talked everyday about it and what the track and camping was like. We talked again after the race was over I felt that I went to that race for you. This Sunday as much as I hate to admit it I will be cheering for your driver Kyle Larson. After what you have been through the last 6 years you are the toughest SOB I have ever known not only that you were my best friend. God dam I'm going to miss you. Till we meet again at a Nascar race. Love you buddy
