Paul Duncan McDonald
June 21, 1950
November 26, 2017
Paul Duncan McDonald of Lurgan Beach, formerly of Brussels. With heavy hearts we announce the passing of a much loved husband, father, grandfather, nephew, brother-in-law and uncle on Sunday, November 26th, 2017 in his 68th year. Left to mourn his passing are his devoted wife Jane (Krauter) of 46 years, and his beloved children Natasha and Stephen Kloostra and Erica and Mark Pocock, as well as his cherished grandchildren Gabe, Kate and Maren. He is also survived by a special Aunt, Joyce Hodgins of Wingham as well as his in-laws and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Jack (1997) and Dorothy (2011), his brother Neil (1992) and sister Gail (1996) as well as 2 infant siblings. Paul was a gentle and kind-hearted man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was always willing to give his time for others. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his two daughters and their families and cherished the Sunday suppers that brought us together. He enjoyed hockey, NASCAR and the relaxation of retirement, helping and visiting with others whenever possible. Paul enjoyed many years at family cottages at the French River, Amberly Beach and Port Severn, and was an accomplished barefoot water-skier and chef at the BBQ. Paul loved his vehicles and spent hours upon hours caring for them. A good shammy was his most prized possession. Paul was easy to converse with, relishing in conversations he regularly struck with people from all walks of life. He spent many hours on shopping mall benches making new friends. Paul worked for over 40 years at his family hardware and building supply business in Brussels. He enjoyed working along side his father and late siblings as well as his dedicated employees and customers. Paul left us too early and had much more to share with those who valued him for the lovely man he was; and will continue to be remembered for. Friends will be received at the MacKenzie McCreath funeral home in Ripley on Thursday, November 30th from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 1st at 11 am. Cremation to follow with internment of cremated remains in Brussels Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the South Bruce Grey Kincardine Hospital or London Health Sciences Centre in London would be appreciated by the family.
