John Ambrose Gamble
February 15, 1937
September 8, 2016
John Ambrose Gamble, of Kincardine, passed away at Trillium Court on Thursday September 8, 2016 at age 79. He was born on February 15, 1937 in Clinton, Ontario to the late Marion (McDonald) and George Gamble. Dearly loved by wife Barbara, daughter Debra (John) McKay, sons Michael (partner Peter) and Paul (partner Brent) and grandson Aiden. Sadly, missed by sister Jo (Bill) Landon, brothers Allan (Alice) Gamble and Wilfred (Dianne) Gamble, brothers-in-law David (Chris) Campbell, Jim (Jackie) Campbell and John (Joanie) Campbell and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by infant daughter Linda Marie, nephew Stephen Gamble, brother-in-law Lorne Cronin and sister-in-law Deborah Campbell. John was a quiet man who was very devoted to his family, church and community. He was one who wanted to organize a parade, be in the parade, even with his famous skunk, but he did not want to simply watch a parade! John embraced life fully and with enjoyment. He was a successful businessman, having owned and operated a dairy farm and later in life a trailer campground park and was a very active church member of St. Anthony of Padua and Knights of Columbus. In his home of Ripley, John belonged to Junior Farmers, Ripley Agricultural Society, Huron County Federation of Agriculture, Huron Township Council from 1979-1986, as well as Reeve and Bruce County Council for 16 years. John was a member of the Kincardine Chamber of Commerce to help promote tourism in the area. One of his favourite activities was curling and working at the curling rink. The family would like to thank Trillium Court staff, the nurses, Dr. Gurbin and PSWs for the care of John for the past three years. Like all families, we had our ups and downs. Barbara especially appreciated the girls keeping a close eye on John in his final hours. Thank you all. Visitation will be held from the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home, Ripley on Sunday September 11, 2016 from 2-5 PM with vigil prayers at 4 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday September 12, 2016 at 11:30 AM from St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, Kincardine. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lewis Park or the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
