Joyce Elizabeth Farrell
August 27, 1928
July 10, 2022
Joyce Elizabeth Farrell, of Kincardine, left our world peacefully at the Kincardine Hospital, Sunday, July 10, 2022 at the age of 93.

Joyce was born in Kincardine on August 27, 1928, to the late John Stewart Needham and Janet Elizabeth Welsh.

Beloved wife of Stewart, mother and grandmother, Joyce was the matriarch of the eight Farrell girls and their families. Joyce is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by daughters Judy Snobelen, Joy (Ken) Houston, Kerry (Bill) Farrell, Kathy (Boyd) Carruthers, Kim Colling, Shelley (Todd) McGlynn, Julie (Steve) McAllister and Lisa (Keith) Farrell; and brother Jim (Dorothy) Needham.

Joyce was so very loved by her 18 grandchildren, Tanya Leppington, Sam Snobelen, Amy Parker, Angie Cremers, Regan Carruthers, Ashley Wilson, Chad Carruthers, Kara Kortegaard, Kurt Colling, Scott McGlynn, Carley Donaldson, Lindsay McAllister, Alexa McAllister, Ben McAllister, Tessa Spooner, Luke Spooner and Callia Spooner, and 25 great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by her husband, Stewart Farrell (2002), son-in-law David Colling (2013) and grandson Troy Snobelen (2019).

Joyce taught at Kincardine Township School, and shortly thereafter married Stewart in 1949. Together they started a beautiful life and raised their eight daughters on the farm on Concession 10 in Huron Township. Joyce and Stewart took pride in hard work and instilled this value in their eight daughters. In 1979, they moved to Boiler Beach where Joyce enjoyed gardening, hosting family and continuing to share in Stewart’s passion for racing Standardbred horses.

Joyce was a woman of many talents and cherished time with family and friends. She found joy in baking, travelling, sewing and quilting, and square dancing, meeting many friends doing so. She was always delighted to see the precious new additions to her ever-growing family and loved watching her family gather and kids play at the beach. We will greatly miss her love and her presence.

Donations in memory of Joyce can be made to the Kincardine and Community Healthcare Foundation and Sleeping Children Around the World.

A private interment is being held at the Ripley cemetery. A private Celebration of Life for family will be held this summer.

The family of Joyce extends sincere thanks to staff at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre Kincardine for their kindness and care.
